Cyber Guys

Insurance brokers

Your clients’ renewals, and your own security.

Brokers handle a large amount of client personal and financial information, and increasingly help clients get ready for cyber-insurance renewals. Both sides of that work benefit from clear evidence.

Situations we help with

  • A client’s renewal questionnaire is due in three weeks

The insurer wants to know about MFA, backups and endpoint protection. Your client does not know the answers, and neither does their office manager.

What helps: A done-for-you readiness engagement that works through the questions with the client’s IT provider, closes what it can, and leaves the client with evidence to support each answer they choose to give.

  • A fake “updated policy schedule” email

A convincing email asks a staff member to sign in to view an updated policy schedule. The link leads to a fake Microsoft sign-in page.

What helps: Phishing-resistant sign-in for administrators, MFA for all staff, and regular awareness training with simulations.

  • Client documents shared too widely

A folder of client applications was shared with “anyone with the link” years ago and never reviewed.

What helps: External sharing controls, a periodic review of shared links, and a record of what was found and fixed.

Depending on your business, privacy obligations such as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme may apply when personal information is involved. Whether they apply to you, and what they require, is a question for your legal or compliance adviser — we can help you get the facts together for that conversation.
